During a reflection session at work this February, they asked us what do we value most in our professional life.
I said “integrity“.
If I am asked the same question today, I would say “clarity“.
I still value integrity in the work I do. However, the joy I derive from having clarity at this point in my career has taken front seat without compromising on the other. In the last six months, some values clearly stood out to me as what I consider a compass in my professional as well as personal life.
- Clarity:
I function best when I have clarity about why I do what I do.
- Simplifying:
I believe in simplifying things and find absolutely no fault in this process only because it seems “too easy”.
Yes, there is a certain skill and power in being able to contextualise and use jargons or key terms, but what is the point if that confuses people more than make them understand it, unless that’s the point.
- Good mails:
For a process to function efficiently, taking out 15-30 minutes of my time to break down the stuff and communicating it to others or for that matter even myself, is worth investing to prevent any chaos that can cause a setback for months.
- Processing:
I have accepted that I take my own time to process things.
It is okay to be slow and steady if it makes sense to you about where you are heading.
- Sense making:
Rationale+Instincts = Sense making
My sense making skills has sharpened at par through existing chaos. (Except for understanding modern day meta memes about fruit and pies)
- Fun:
No matter what I do, there should be an element of fun in it for me.
Am I okay with showing up at 70% to work?
Yes.
I can put in the rest % through the impeccable sense of humour running in my head to entertain myself. Some call it self-preservation, I call it “having fun”.
Where am I at?
Figuring out how an individual that thrives in clarity can take ownership in a chaotic environment.
Management folks reading this be like :

Note to self:
Reflection is re-gearing yourself all the way back to go the long run. (Ya, ya. It’s easier said than done)
Acceptance is the new bliss.
Fun is always in!

To clarity🙌
